A football game where your decisions reach the pitch

Mini Manager is an independent project where two managers build an eleven each under the same budget and the same rule, and the result plays out in a live simulation.

Why we built it

Most fantasy football games end with a number in a table: you build a squad, a score arrives at the weekend, and you never see the ninety minutes in between. We thought those ninety minutes were exactly what was missing.

So in Mini Manager every match is genuinely played. If the centre back you picked is late to the ball, you see it on screen; if your rival’s counter attack exploits the space your high press left behind, you watch how the goal came. The result is not a number, it is a match you can watch.

How the game works

Every match is built on a room rule: a fixed transfer budget and a player pool specific to that room. Both managers start with the same resources, so the difference is not what you are given but how you spend it.

Once the squad is complete you choose a formation and a game plan, fine-tune where players stand on the pitch and lock the squad in. Then the ninety minutes, half time included, are played live in around three minutes. For the full walkthrough, see the how to play page.

How the simulation works

The match is not a pre-decided animation. The position of all twenty-two players, who has the ball, momentum and chance probabilities are calculated second by second. Passes, pressing, offsides, fouls and set pieces, corners, throw-ins, balls off the post and goalkeeper saves are all outcomes of that calculation.

A squad’s strength does not come from a single overall rating either. Attack, midfield, defence and physicality are calculated separately with different attribute weights, while chemistry looks at how the squad fits together across leagues and nationalities. That is why an expensive squad is not always a good squad.

Who runs the project

Mini Manager is an independent project developed and operated by Mini Manager. It has no official affiliation with any club, league, federation or game publisher. The player pool is based on a dataset built from real footballers’ attributes and market values.
